Job Description:
Responsible for the daily coordination and delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic services in the area of speech, language, cognition, feeding and swallowing for infant through adult patient populations as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Evaluate assigned patients through selection, administration, and interpretation of formal and informal diagnostic assessments to determine the levels of functioning and intervention needs in all areas of speech pathology. Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific factors and performs satisfactorily related to patient's age infant through geriatrics as noted on unit specific guidelines and competencies.
Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for the patients needing services. Use selected activities and/or tasks to promote and maintain health, and to achieve treatment goals. Establish and modify intervention goals and strategies for patients/ treatment program based on on-going evaluations.
Provide direct therapy services to patients using various functional settings and strategies. Plan's therapy with in the patient's individual physical, emotional and intellectual capabilities as indicated and coordinated with the rehabilitation, medical and nursing care plans.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other such reports.
Communicate effectively with patient, family, physician, and other disciplinary team members regarding the patient status, progress, and needs.
Establish rapport and work cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members (including family/physician) throughout the patient's intervention program.
Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, etc. shares new knowledge with co-workers.
Participate in program development of the department. Mentor co-workers as directed by Therapy Manager.
Evaluate and monitor clinical internship with students affiliating in various universities/colleges.

Education: Master's Degree from an accredited speech and language program from a college or university required.
Minimum
Experience: 1 year +

Other Certifications, licenses, or skills: Certificate of clinical competence from American Speech & Hearing Association (ASHA) in speech/language pathology of presently active in a supervised clinical fellowship year and certification received within one year of employment is required.

Additional requirement:
Must complete Dependent Adult and Child Abuse Reporter course within six months of employment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
